What is Motiva ry?

Motiva ry is a student society, aka guild, for students of educational sciences at the University of Oulu, established in 1971.

The guild's intent is to promote social and academic interests and rights of the students, and to create and maintain relations beween the students and the staff. Motiva has its representatives in the degree programme's committees and the faculty board of the Faculty of Education. When needed, the guild officially speaks out regarding matters concerning students.

Within its resources, Motiva aims to organize free-time activities and get-togethers for the students. This activity can concern sports, culture and partying. Motiva also informs the students about free-time possibilities and other events by other student societies and the student union.

On the other hand, the student organization aims to also function as one link between the studies and work life.

Still, one of the main duties of Motiva is to create and sustain cooperation, team spirit and solidarity among the students of educational sciences and help them to network with each other.

Join Motiva ry!

You can join Motiva by filling the membership application on Google Forms and by paying the membership fee. Applications are processed in meetings of Motiva ry, after which the new members are added into the membership register. 

The information of this form is used to keep our membership registry up to date. The information is stored in a password protected file. The information will be stored for 10 years. Overalls

The best way to identify a member of Motiva and a student of educational sciences is the white overalls with purple lettering, which are supplied to the freshers during their first semester. With overalls you can tell who belongs to your group, and as different student societies have their own recognizable colours you can easily tell who the people around you are!

It's customary to personalize your overalls with patches, decoration or party accessories. Motiva has an assortment of its own patches, gives away special patches in connection with certain events, and regularly releases new patches designed by the membership.

In addition, Motiva's white overalls are functional to wear as swimming attire, winter camouflage and protection in rough conditions.
